Challenges

The Whiffens Avenue project presented a few unique challenges. The implementation of Prefabricated Utility Cupboards involved the units being craned into the building and positioned in their intended locations.

In the early stages of this, it was found that existing building fabric was impeding the loading in of the PUC’s (or PODs). We worked closely with the main contractor to overcome these issues with the least amount of disruption and creation of remedial work.

The project has not been without its challenges, particularly with the logistics of accommodating the prefabricated PODs into the building fabric. Where the building has experienced issues with remaining weather tight it has delayed our progress in certain areas however, the team responded to this in a responsible way to provide our client with a positive outcome. – Sidney Selfe, Project Manager

Issues with programme presented a number of challenges which led London MEP having to co-ordinate, such as the contract shifting from a single to a multi-phase completion.

Our Operational and Commercial team had to adapt quickly to the changing landscape of the project and fluidity of the programme in response to the managing contractor going into administration, and a new organisation being appointed to take on the project on.
